Two men charged with arson at Nannestad church

Two men in their 20s from Østfold have been arrested and charged with setting fire to Steinsgård church in Maura, Nannestad, early Tuesday morning, Dagbladet reports.

The fire was extinguished shortly after firefighters arrived, but the entrance door sustained damage, according to police.

An automatic fire alarm alerted emergency services at around 3:30 AM. Police suspect the fire was started externally at the door. They encountered two individuals near the church, and “circumstances at the scene” led to their arrest on suspicion of arson.
