Jegvan Sundskarð first shipped out at 16 and has no intention of stopping, he told Faroese broadcaster KVF.
On 11 July it was 60 years since he boarded the Skálaberg as a teenager, he said. Since then he has sailed on Faroese sand boats in the North Sea, spent years on the cargo ship Lómi to the Faroes, and served as relief crew on the Ternan and Smyril.
In the interview, he recalled incidents including a grounding outside Leirvík while aboard the Ternan, and the time police shot a man on the Lómi.
