Residents of Vága municipality in the Faroe Islands can now claim free sod from a new excavation site at Heiðatrøð in Miðvágur, the municipality announced.

Work to prepare the first ten building plots in the area begins on 10 August, carried out by J&K Petersen. Until then, the municipality is inviting locals to take sod for their own use.

The sod can be used for small projects such as new lawns, levelling land, or roofing a shed. The Heiðatrøð site is the first step in developing a larger residential area in Miðvágur, which will later connect to the existing housing area at Heiðar.

Those interested in claiming sod are asked to contact Vága municipality, according to the announcement.
