A 33-year-old man has been committed to Sikringen in Slagelse, Denmark’s high-security psychiatric facility for the most dangerous mentally ill offenders, after admitting to the murder of a 58-year-old man and the attempted murder of a young couple in the Vejle area in November 2024.

The Court in Kolding followed the recommendation of the Forensic Psychiatry Board, issuing an indefinite commitment order. According to police, the murder occurred on 25 November at 04:00, when the victim was beaten and stabbed. Less than an hour later, the same man traveled to another address in Vejle, where he attacked the couple. The attempt failed after the victims overpowered him and contacted police during a break-in.

During a prior court hearing in mid-June, the man explained that he had spent months planning the crimes, driven by a voice in his head demanding revenge against the two men, whom he believed had wronged him years earlier. Prosecutors noted that this claim was not supported by the police investigation. The woman in the couple was targeted to eliminate witnesses.

The man had meticulously prepared, purchasing burglary tools in summer 2024, scouting the addresses for surveillance cameras, and even changing his car tires to avoid leaving tracks. On the night of the crimes, he wore rain gear, a mask, and overshoes to avoid leaving forensic evidence. He stated that his methods were inspired by an American crime documentary.
