Marius Rein, a technician at Faroese national broadcaster KVF, pulled the plug on the old transmission desk at Bryggjubakka on 2 July 1981, marking the final shutdown of Útvarpið’s operations in its long-time building, the broadcaster reports.

The moment symbolised a significant shift in Faroese media history, as KVF relocated from the cramped premises in Tórshavn’s Sortudýki district to new facilities.
