Life found in empty Yyteri spa hotel – a bird trapped inside
A bird was spotted inside the second floor of the empty Yyteri spa hotel in Pori on Thursday afternoon, local rescue services reported.
According to duty fire chief Tero Järvelä, a passerby notified authorities after seeing the bird inside the building, now known as Yyteri Recreation Hotel. The fire department did not respond in person but contacted the owner, who suspected the bird had entered through an open ventilation window.
The owner agreed to help the bird escape and install netting over the window to prevent further incidents, Järvelä said. The species of the bird was not identified.
The hotel has been closed for a second summer as its owners await financing for a major renovation project.
Rescue services in Satakunta have handled several animal-related calls recently, including starlings stuck in ventilation shafts and a deer that fell into a sugar beet conveyor at the Sucros plant. Järvelä noted that increased outdoor activity in summer leads to more reports, though many do not require intervention, such as young seagulls on the ground that are still cared for by their parents.
