Meteorologists are tracking rain showers approaching Oslo ahead of Saturday’s World Cup quarter-final between Norway and England, though the capital may yet avoid the worst of the weather, Dagbladet reports.

“Most likely, Oslo will see dry conditions, but there’s some uncertainty because the showers are coming quite close to the city,” said Tone Christin Thaule, duty meteorologist at the Norwegian Meteorological Institute.

Current forecasts suggest the heaviest downpours will pass north of Oslo and into Sweden before the match, which kicks off at 23:00. While most of southern Norway is expected to stay dry during the game, Thaule advised spectators to bring rain jackets as a precaution.

“It’s not a bad idea to have a rain jacket in case the showers move closer than expected. The main concern is precipitation,” she said, adding that winds would be light and temperatures likely between 15 and 18°C.

Thaule noted that shower forecasts are particularly uncertain. Meanwhile, western Norway, including Stavanger, is set for clear skies, temperatures near 22°C, and sunny spells throughout the day.
