Traffic increases significantly at Sandoy Tunnel and Eysturoy Tunnel in Faroe Islands

Recent statistics confirm a significant increase in traffic through the Sandoy Tunnel compared to earlier projections. In July, an average of 1,194 vehicles passed through the tunnel daily, a notable rise from 876 vehicles in June.

Similarly, the Eysturoy Tunnel has also seen an uptick in usage. In July, there were 6,190 vehicles, up from 5,656 vehicles during the same month last year. The average number of vehicles recorded in June for the Eysturoy Tunnel was 5,579.

Traffic through both underwater tunnels has risen when compared to figures from July of the previous year and this June. This upward trend indicates a growing reliance on these vital transport routes.
