Finnish president offers condolences over death of Yle editor-in-chief
Finnish President Alexander Stubb expressed condolences to Yle and the family of Panu Pokkinen, the public broadcaster’s editor-in-chief, who died on Wednesday at the age of 49.
Speaking at a NATO summit press conference, Stubb said before taking questions that he wanted to offer his sympathies, calling Pokkinen “one of Finland’s finest journalists, who always managed to address issues through a broader perspective.”
“A young man left us too soon,” Stubb added, extending his condolences to Yle as a whole and especially to Pokkinen’s family.
Several government ministers, including Prime Minister Petteri Orpo, Finance Minister Riikka Purra, and Agriculture Minister Sari Essayah, also posted messages of condolence on X.
