A specialist dentist and a nurse have been charged with manslaughter in the October 2021 death of a retired man in Lapinlahti, North Savo, state broadcaster Yle reports.

The suspect, a 45-year-old male dentist, and a 40-year-old female nurse are accused of causing the death while practicing their professions. The alleged offense occurred between 1 and 7 October 2021, with events also linked to Helsinki and Iisalmi.

Police confirmed no other individuals are suspected in the case. The dentist has previously worked in the Helsinki region, North Savo, North Karelia, and Central Finland.

Neither suspect has had their professional licenses restricted, nor are there pending or resolved regulatory matters with the Finnish National Supervisory Authority for Welfare and Health (Valvira). Both have clean criminal records in Finland over the past decade.

The case is now before North Savo District Court, with hearings scheduled for November.
