Record 427 apply to study at the University of the Faroe Islands

Applications to the University of the Faroe Islands have risen by 11.5% compared to last year, with 427 submissions received, up from 383 in 2025, the Faroese Broadcasting Corporation (KVF) reports.

Of these, 345 applied for bachelor’s programmes, 77 for master’s, and five for PhD positions. The highest number of applications in recent years was 456 in 2021.

The average age of applicants has dropped by nearly 30 years, from 30.2 in 2025. The gender split remains unchanged from last year, with 68% women and 32% men.

Applicants will receive responses on Friday and must confirm acceptance by 1 August.
