Parliamentarian Bárður á Steig Nielsen questions Prime Minister Aksel V. Johannesen on public administration costs in the Faroe Islands

Friday 2nd August 2024 on 08:23 in Faroe Islands

The first question under Article 52a in this parliamentary session has already been raised.

Bárður á Steig Nielsen, a member of parliament, is inquiring with Aksel V. Johannesen, the Prime Minister, about the costs associated with public administration.

He seeks clarification on the financial expenditure of the main governmental bodies from 2019 to 2023.

Bárður mentions that he asked the same question during the previous session but did not receive a response.

“The Prime Minister did not disclose the annual costs of public administration in kroner,” Bárður stated.

“When this coalition took office, the Prime Minister asserted that public administration would not incur additional expenses,” the MP added.

Now, a year and a half later, there is a call for personnel to fill several new positions within public administration, and three new directors have been appointed.

In the previous parliamentary session, there were a total of 141 Article 52a questions.
