Man sought with suspected firearm in central Helsinki carried toy gun

Police in Helsinki pursued a man suspected of carrying a firearm in the city centre on Tuesday, according to a police report.

The emergency response centre alerted police at around 11:55 am after a person with a weapon was reportedly seen in the Kamppi area. Multiple patrols searched for the individual described in the call.

Officers located the man about 15 minutes later in central Helsinki. The weapon was confirmed to be a toy gun.

Police stated that the situation posed no danger to the public.
