A new travel pass for tourists has been introduced in the Faroe Islands to encourage greater use of public transport and reduce reliance on private cars for visiting remote destinations, according to Strandferðslan, the public transport operator.
The pass functions as a standard route card but also includes significant discounts on guided day tours across the islands. All tours depart from Farstøðin in Tórshavn, Strandferðslan’s main hub, which connects routes throughout the country.
Strandferðslan states the initiative is designed to make it easier for visitors to explore the Faroe Islands in a simple and environmentally friendly way.
