Attempted murder suspected in Mikkeli police operation

Police in eastern Finland suspect an attempted murder following a weekend operation in Mikkeli’s Peitsari district, state broadcaster Yle reports.

A firearm was used in the incident, leaving one person seriously injured but in stable condition. Authorities have made several arrests, with one suspect detained pending a remand hearing.

Police initially cordoned off the crime scene and closed a nearby road during the operation, which began Saturday. Barriers were removed Sunday.
