Margit Stórá, the Faroese minister for social affairs and housing, says she intends to follow the coalition agreement on pension indexation but warns the issue is more complex than the text suggests, according to a report by Faroese broadcaster KVF.
Stórá confirmed she does not plan to abandon the reversal of pension indexation after receiving feedback from Helga Abrahamsen, chair of the Union Party’s parliamentary group. However, she stated it is not certain the change can take effect from 1 January 2027, as Abrahamsen has proposed.
The coalition agreement does not specify a date for implementing the reversal. Stórá emphasised that the supporting parties remain divided on the matter.
