Finland marks Eino Leino Day with flag flying

Finland is observing Eino Leino Day on Monday, a national flag day dedicated to poetry and the celebration of summer, reports Yle.

The day is held annually on 6 July, the birthday of the beloved poet Eino Leino, who lived from 1878 to 1926. A cultural figure of his time, Leino was also active in journalism.

In addition to flag flying, the Eino Leino Award is presented today, recognising either a notable work or significant contributions in literature and culture.
