Faroese health officials call for annual child check-ups

Faroese health authorities are urging parents to bring children for annual check-ups until school age, according to a statement from Gigni, the national health service.

Sólrun Foldbo, professional director at Gigni, said the service already reminds parents about vaccinations but stops routine check-ups after 18 months unless issues arise. She noted that annual visits would help maintain vaccination coverage, which a new report from the Health Directorate shows declines steadily after the first year.

The report, made public by the Health Directorate, indicates that while vaccination uptake is strong in a child’s first year, it drops with each subsequent recommended dose.
