Thunderstorms and heavy rain may disrupt outdoor festivals across Finland today, according to Yle meteorologist Anne Borgström.

Major events including Ruisrock in Turku, Wanaja Festival in Hämeenlinna, Santa Open Air in Rovaniemi, Kipinä Festival in Helsinki, and Puistoblues in Järvenpää are all underway as unstable weather moves in.

Borgström said localized downpours and thunderstorms are expected in many areas, particularly in the south, west, and western Lapland, with the highest chance of clear skies in northern Finland. Central regions may see less thunder but still face rain.

She warned that storms could bring sudden, heavy rain, leaving festival grounds muddy. Attendees camping overnight should prepare for wet conditions, as the ground may not dry even by morning.
