The fashion design programme at Glasir in the Faroe Islands has been officially recognised, allowing its graduates to access further education in Denmark as clothing artisans, the Faroese Broadcasting Corporation (KVF) reports.
Students who complete the programme will now have one year and two months deducted from their apprenticeship time in Denmark. The Ministry of Education also plans to establish a dedicated clothing artisan programme based on the Faroese vocational model.
The recognition follows a period of uncertainty. Education Minister Djóni Nolsøe Joensen had previously considered discontinuing the programme, and it was later revealed that it did not initially provide access to broader studies.
