An unidentified woman found dead on a field in Thy last January has been buried without any relatives or friends present, DR reports.
The woman, discovered face-down in the cold earth, was never reported missing. Despite police appeals across 196 countries, her identity remains unknown.
An autopsy found no signs of foul play, and investigations revealed no criminal activity. She was described as 65–75 years old, about 170 cm tall, of average build, and dressed in dark blue jeans, a light blue fleece, a light down jacket, and black Skechers shoes. She carried no identification.
Hans Ole Vester, an undertaker in Thisted with 25 years of experience, said this was the first time he had arranged a burial for an unidentified person. Though no one attended, he said the duty still had to be carried out with care.
“No one should make their final journey without someone stopping to show care and respect,” Vester said.
In the small community of Thy, the case has drawn attention. “Everyone knows a little, without really knowing anything,” Vester added.
