A full-scale replica of the Badehotellet from the popular TV 2 series has opened at the Nyvang Experience Centre in Holbæk, Denmark, reports DR.

The building has been constructed and furnished with original props from the show. A special preview event will allow fans to tour the hotel before its official opening on 11 July, with visitors invited to offer feedback on the recreation.

“If we’ve got it right, they’ll recognise it and feel the spirit of Badehotellet,” said Mie Ellekilde, a historian at Nyvang Experience Centre.

The hotel will be staffed by 45 volunteers, mostly retirees, dressed in period costumes. Ulla Størling, chair of the Badehotellet guild, noted the uniforms will help conceal modern details: “It’s good we have an apron on, so you can’t see all the fine grey hair.”

Volunteers and staff have worked to ensure authenticity, including filling jars with preserved fruits and vegetables to replicate a working kitchen. The centre, a living history museum, will use the hotel to explore themes from the series, such as class, domestic service, and sexuality through the decades.

Building the physical version presented challenges, as the TV set had only six rooms that were redressed, while the real structure includes all 12 rooms from the series. Some discrepancies, like wallpaper colours, may be noticed by devoted fans.

Visits will be timed, with guests allowed 30 minutes to tour the building. The centre anticipates high demand.
