Satakunta District Court has sentenced a man in his early 20s to 10 years in prison for murder and other offences in a February 2024 incident in Kokemäki, Yle reports.

Two other men, part of the same group that broke into the victim’s home, were acquitted of murder but received roughly two-year sentences for other crimes. The trio assaulted the victim and stole property. One of the men was armed with a loaded shotgun, which was fired fatally during a struggle.

Prosecutors had sought murder convictions for all three, arguing they jointly intended the victim’s death by bringing a loaded shotgun into the home. The court, however, ruled only the man who pulled the trigger was guilty of murder.

The ruling is not yet final and may be appealed.
