A man in his 40s has been charged with the murder of his 70-year-old father in Kløfta, Ullensaker, Dagbladet reports.

The son called police himself at 06:20 on Tuesday morning. He has admitted involvement in the incident during questioning but has not addressed criminal liability. On Wednesday, he was remanded in custody for four weeks, with two weeks under a communications ban.

Police prosecutor Andrea Finckenhagen told Dagbladet that a review of the initial questioning is planned for today, with further interviews to follow next week. Authorities are still conducting forensic examinations at the scene and have seized multiple electronic devices for analysis.

Finckenhagen confirmed that investigators will explore potential motives, including any conflicts between the father and son. Neither the accused nor the victim had prior police records. Several people were present in the home at the time, but none witnessed the killing itself.

The accused has not consented to the release of his medical records. Court documents cited in the detention order suggest the evidence supports a suspicion of intentional action and rules out self-defense.

Neighbors interviewed by Dagbladet on Tuesday expressed shock over the incident.
