A 55-year-old man suspected of murder in the 2021 killing of a man whose body was found in a Seinäjoki apartment building basement will appear before South Ostrobothnia District Court on Friday, as prosecutors seek his detention.
Prosecutor Esa Luomala told Yle that the suspect, from Alajärvi, was one of five men initially questioned in 2021. Three others remain under suspicion, though Luomala has not yet decided whether to seek their detention.
The victim, a man in his 40s, disappeared in November 2020 and was discovered in the Kasperi district in June 2021. Ostrobothnia police completed their investigation this week, describing it as extensive and complex, and have forwarded the case to prosecutors for possible charges.
Police credited public tips with advancing the probe.
