Dagbladet has named Erik Stephansen as its new political editor and Martine Aurdal as debate editor, the newspaper announced Thursday.

Stephansen, 68, joins from Nettavisen, where he served as political editor. He previously held roles including news editor at Nettavisen, editor at Firdaposten, and journalist and presenter at TV 2. He also worked at Dagbladet from 1985 to 1991 as a journalist and news desk chief.

“I can’t imagine a better duo than Erik Stephansen and Martine Aurdal as political editor and debate editor, respectively,” said Dagbladet editor-in-chief Gunnar Stavrum.

Aurdal, 47, moves into the role from her position as a commentator at Dagbladet, where she has worked since 2008. She has served as a political reporter, head of the society desk, and previously as debate editor. She is also the author of several books.

Stephansen will assume his position on October 1, while Aurdal begins August 3.
