Cecilia Nolsøe Sørensen appointed headteacher in Porkeri

Cecilia Nolsøe Sørensen will take over as headteacher of Porkeri school from the start of the next academic year, replacing Beintu G. Jacobsen, who is retiring, according to an announcement by the Faroese education authority.

Sørensen, 41, is from Tvøroyri and holds a teaching qualification alongside a Bachelor of Science degree in business and psychology. She has several years of teaching experience and has previously served as a headteacher for one year. She begins her new role on 1 August.

The education authority also announced that Hilda Jørgensen, 38, will become the sole teacher at Haraldssund school from 1 August 2026. Jørgensen, who lives in Klaksvík, is a qualified teacher from the Faroese Teachers’ College, specialising in natural sciences, social studies, and sports—including swimming. She has experience in both teaching and school administration, as well as prior work as a sole teacher.
