Finland imposes temporary flight restriction over eastern Gulf of Finland
The Finnish Defence Forces temporarily restricted air traffic over the eastern Gulf of Finland early Thursday, citing a precautionary measure against possible stray drones.
According to a statement posted on X, the restriction was introduced at 04:26 local time and lifted after 06:00. The Defence Forces clarified that no drones were detected in Finnish airspace and that the measure was taken to protect civilians.
Similar temporary flight restrictions were imposed on 6 June over a maritime area near Kotka and Hamina in southeast Finland, with authorities at the time linking the move to Ukraine’s defensive operations against Russia without providing further details.
