Parents convicted of abuse, father also for sexual assault

A father and mother were convicted Wednesday by the Court of Hjørring for violence against their now 20-year-old daughter, with the father additionally found guilty of sexual abuse, according to a statement from the Public Prosecutor’s Office of North Jutland Police.

The 43-year-old father, a German citizen from Frederikshavn, received a four-year prison sentence for repeated sexual abuse of his daughter between the ages of 8 and 10, as well as for physical violence against her. He was also ordered deported from Denmark.

The 47-year-old mother was sentenced to 60 days in prison for violence, including pulling the daughter from her bed and locking her outside in her underwear in all weather conditions.

The daughter was awarded 100,000 kroner in compensation. Both parents denied the charges and have appealed the verdict to the Western High Court, seeking acquittal.
