Last week, the Faroese Health Authority received 70 reports of confirmed COVID-19 cases.
In a press release, the Health Authority called on individuals to report if they had verified a COVID-19 infection through a home test. This request was prompted by the lack of reported cases from the Research Institute at the National Hospital, while many people claimed to be ill with COVID-19. The Health Authority sought clarity on the situation.
In the press release, the Health Authority cautioned that the new figures should be interpreted with care.
“The number of incoming reports does not reflect the actual infection rate in the Faroe Islands at the moment, but it indicates a certain level of infection pressure,” the Health Authority stated. They urged the public to report confirmed cases of COVID-19 detected through home tests.
