Oulu police have received more than 100 public tips related to a series of stabbing incidents in the city, according to a report by Finnish broadcaster Yle.

The investigation into the June 26 stabbing in Kaukovainio continues intensively across multiple fronts, with police employing tactical and technical methods while reviewing public submissions. Petri Savela, head of the Oulu Police Department’s investigation unit, said each tip is being examined, though the process is time-consuming.

Surveillance footage from near the crime scenes has also been collected in large volumes, adding to the workload. Police have allocated additional resources to identify the suspect, with officers from multiple investigation teams involved. Savela noted that much of the work remains unseen by the public.

Despite the high number of tips, authorities still urge anyone with information to come forward, as even minor details could prove crucial.

This year, Oulu has seen several stabbing incidents in which a cyclist attacked people with foreign backgrounds. The cases are suspected to have racist motives.
