Convicted ex-psychiatrist drops €400,000 claim against murdered wife’s estate

A former psychiatrist convicted of murdering his wife has withdrawn a €400,000 claim against her estate, Yle reports.

Roope Tikkanen, serving a life sentence for the 2022 killing in Helsinki’s Ullanlinna district, filed the claim over a 2021 property purchase. He and his wife had bought a Porvoo archipelago property for €750,000 months before the murder.

Helsinki District Court confirmed Tikkanen abandoned the claim on 30 June. A court of appeal upheld his life sentence in December 2025.
