Dals tunnel opens to traffic 18 July

The Dals tunnel will open to traffic on 18 July, following seven years of construction and a cost of 170 million DKK, Kringvarp Føroya reports.

Final safety inspections by the Faroese Working Environment Authority, fire brigade, police, and public works agency are expected to proceed as planned this week, clearing the way for certification.

“Around 2,000 tonnes of asphalt were laid on the road surface last week, and only minor finishing touches remain,” said Sigurð Ólason Vang, a division manager at Landsverk.
