A record 82 children and teens aged 10 to 15 are spending the first three days of their summer break at a farmer camp at Kjærgaard Agricultural School near Bramming, DR reports.
The camp, now in its sixth year, offers hands-on experience with livestock, machinery, and rural life. Activities include animal care and mud racing.
Mari Jungblut, one of the participants, said she attended to learn how agriculture could fit into her future. “I want to understand how to use agriculture and take it forward in life,” she told DR.
School principal Lasse Iversen Hansen said the group is evenly split between boys and girls, with some already planning agricultural careers, others exploring the field, and some simply curious.
This year’s camp has the highest participation yet, a trend Hansen links to recent widespread media coverage of agriculture. “All publicity is good publicity,” he said, noting growing interest in farming education across Denmark.
Alfred Bucholt, 15, who plans to enroll at the school at 16, said he was there to learn and have fun. “I want to take something useful with me,” he said.
