A 19-year-old man from Kuopio, suspected of multiple armed robberies, intends to confess to his actions in court. His lawyer, Vesa Pellikka, revealed that the crimes stem from the suspect’s gambling addiction, which led to financial hardships he tried to conceal. “It’s not a good approach by any means, but this is what he resorted to. It’s a really unfortunate situation, and he is, of course, very sorry,” Pellikka stated.

The suspect has already admitted to the offenses during the preliminary investigation. He is facing serious accusations related to four counts of aggravated robbery and one attempted robbery. Four of the alleged incidents occurred this year, while one took place last year.

Formal charges will be disclosed when the case is presented in the North Savonia District Court, with the main hearing scheduled for August 12.

The suspect previously played on the Kuopio Palloseura (KuPS) academy team but has since been suspended from both the club and the team’s activities. The KuPS Academy competes in Finland’s men’s Ykkönen, which is the third highest level of men’s football in the country.
