Klaksvík’s municipal council has unanimously approved a 20 million krona operating credit line, the Faroese Broadcasting Corporation (KVF) reports.
The decision follows a recommendation from the municipality’s finance committee, which cited doubled interest expenses as the reason for seeking the credit.
Mayor Karl Johansen said the move is a precaution, ensuring liquidity by tying the credit to a single source for cash flow purposes.
The committee noted that the council will soon consider additional island-wide commitments, which, if approved, would require further borrowing.
