Norway is bracing for a sharp temperature drop after a week of summer warmth, with the most dramatic cooling expected on the west coast, Dagbladet reports.

Meteorologist Lars Andreas Selberg told the newspaper that temperatures will fall nationwide, with Vestlandet facing the steepest decline. After a mild start to the week, the region will see unstable weather, including rain showers and localized thunderstorms by the weekend. Bergen, which saw temperatures near 25°C last week, is forecast to drop to around 15°C by midweek.

A yellow warning for heavy rain has been issued for parts of Trøndelag and Nordland, with up to 20 mm of rain possible in an hour on Monday. The alert, in effect from 11:00 to midnight, also warns of lightning and difficult driving conditions. The same system will bring heavy showers to Nord-Norge early in the week, with Troms under a yellow warning for 30–50 mm of rain in 12 hours from Monday evening to Tuesday morning.

Østlandet, Innlandet, and Sørlandet will fare better, with mostly dry and mild conditions around 20°C, though afternoon showers with possible thunder are forecast for Thursday through Saturday.

“It’s not particularly summery weather,” Selberg said.
