Heatwave sweeps across Europe

An extreme and widespread heatwave has built up over Europe, according to Danish broadcaster DR.

Record-high temperatures in Denmark have now given way to rain and thunderstorms.

Intense heat has also triggered an unusually early heatwave in European countries including Spain, Italy, France, Germany, and the United Kingdom.

DR reports the extreme temperatures are now five times more likely due to human-induced climate change.
