Kvinesdal, missing person, rescue

A 19-year-old man is presumed dead after disappearing in the Jettegrytene rapids in Kvitingen, Kvinesdal, with rescue teams resuming the search Sunday morning, Dagbladet reports.

The man was part of a group swimming in the area when he vanished underwater Saturday afternoon. Emergency services were alerted shortly after 16:00, but strong currents and high water levels prevented divers from entering the search zone. Authorities diverted a nearby watercourse to reduce flow, and an underwater drone was deployed instead.

Operations leader Daniel Lio Henriksen told Dagbladet that a new risk assessment Sunday morning would determine whether divers could safely join the effort. If conditions remain unsafe, the drone will be used again. The manโ€™s next of kin have been notified.

Operations leader Vegard Heyn described the scene Saturday as challenging, with difficult conditions for rescue personnel in the water.
