Heatwave sweeps across Europe

An extreme and widespread heatwave has built up over Europe, bringing unusually early record temperatures to countries including Spain, Italy, France, parts of Germany, and the UK, Danish broadcaster DR reports.

The intense heat in Denmark is linked to the severe warmth further south, which has driven the early heatwave across the continent.

Research cited by DR indicates that human-caused climate change has made such extreme temperatures five times more likely.
