Man charged with father’s murder in Espoo ordered to psychiatric evaluation

Länsi-Uusimaa District Court has ordered a man accused of killing his father in Espoo’s Rastaspuisto district to undergo a psychiatric evaluation.

The suspect has admitted to the killing and remains in custody. The incident occurred in February inside a flat where, according to police, only the victim and the suspect were present.

The two had been drinking together during the evening. The suspect later called a friend, stating he had killed his father. The friend contacted emergency services, but the victim died at the scene with multiple stab wounds.

Police received the report of the violent crime shortly after 23:00 on a Friday night and arrested the suspect outside the apartment building. The main court proceedings will be postponed until the psychiatric evaluation is complete.
