A Norwegian flight bound for Bergen from Oslo aborted takeoff at Gardermoen on Thursday afternoon after a violent sideways lurch during acceleration, passengers told Dagbladet.

One passenger described the aircraft as being “thrown to the side” and nearly crashing. The flight, scheduled to land at Bergen’s Flesland Airport at 14:15, remained on the ground in Oslo past 14:00.

Catharina Solli, Norwegian’s press officer, confirmed the incident to Dagbladet at 14:10, stating the plane experienced a “very forceful deceleration” during takeoff. The cause was not yet known.

The aircraft returned to the terminal, where passengers disembarked and were assigned a replacement plane to continue their journey.
