The Faroese radio programme Nert ikki við returns this summer with a new series focusing on mental health, KVF reports. The first episode airs today at 17:05 on national radio.
Host Anna Joensen-Næs said the show aims to break the silence around mental health struggles by sharing personal stories alongside expert insights. She noted the need for such discussions is particularly strong in the Faroe Islands, where the small, tight-knit community makes these issues deeply felt but often hard to address.
“One chapter is ending, a new one is beginning, and we are happy to tell the Faroese people more touching, raw, and honest stories,” Joensen-Næs said, joined by co-hosts Svanna Jákupsdóttir and Bjørt Lind.
The new season will maintain the same format as before but with fresh, weighty topics. A major change is the departure of Bjørt Lind, who has joined the Løgting (Faroese Parliament). Joensen-Næs praised Lind’s contributions over the past four years, calling her a role model. Psychologist Svanna Jákupsdóttir will take over as co-host, a collaboration Joensen-Næs has long admired.
Nert ikki við will air weekly on Thursdays at 17:05 throughout the summer.
