The Faroese Seafarers and Navigators Union will submit a new collective agreement proposal for coastal shipping to the Ministry of Finance on Friday, according to union chair Annfinnur Garðalíð.
The union and the Shipowners’ Association have not negotiated since the Conciliation Board withdrew in April. Their existing agreement for fishing vessels expired on 1 April, and the parties exchanged proposals on 19 March before formal talks began. After just two negotiation meetings, the Shipowners’ Association requested Conciliation Board intervention on 9 April.
Garðalíð confirmed that negotiations have not yet started. The union has several other agreements with the Ministry of Finance that expired on 1 October last year.
