Finland reviews approval for Tesla’s driver-assistance system
Finland’s transport agency Traficom is assessing whether to approve Tesla’s FSD (Supervised) driver-assistance system for use in the country, the agency announced.
The system supports the driver while driving, and its safety and suitability for Finnish conditions are under evaluation, Traficom said.
Unlike existing driver-assistance systems, Tesla’s FSD (Supervised) allows the driver to physically disengage from the vehicle’s controls in nearly all driving and weather conditions without the system requiring intervention, according to the release.
Vehicles equipped with FSD (Supervised) are not self-driving, and drivers must be ready to take control when necessary, the agency noted.
A decision on the system’s approval is expected in October.
