Court of Appeal toughens drug sentences for Lahti pair
The Court of Appeal of Eastern Finland has increased the prison sentences for a man and a woman from Lahti convicted of serious drug offences.
A 49-year-old woman was sentenced to eight years in prison for aggravated drug offences, one year longer than the district court’s original ruling. She had possessed and distributed marijuana, hashish, amphetamine, and cocaine for sale between 2022 and 2023, with the drugs having significant street value.
A 39-year-old man received a sentence of four years and ten months for aggravated drug offences and money laundering, up from the district court’s 11-month term. The Court of Appeal found he had sold or distributed imported drugs worth at least €56,000.
The Court of Appeal’s rulings were unanimous. Appeals may still be filed with the Supreme Court.
