A new comprehensive research project will examine the Faroese fjords, which have been affected by both natural changes and human activity over time, according to a report by Faroese broadcaster KVF.
The initiative, led by the Faroese Environment Agency, Firum, the National Museum, and the University of the Faroe Islands, aims to gather local knowledge about the fjords’ historical conditions. Katrin Hoydal, a biologist at the Environment Agency, is leading the project.
Researchers note that current knowledge of the fjords’ past states is limited, making local input essential.
