Oslo fans pack Spikersuppa ahead of Norway-Senegal match
Fans have filled Oslo’s Spikersuppa square hours before Norway’s World Cup match against Senegal, reports Dagbladet. By 19:00 local time, tables were already occupied as supporters gathered for pre-match celebrations.
Espen Skogen, press contact for «Fotball i Sentrum», expects the area to reach capacity quickly. “We expect it to fill up fast and stay that way until the Norway-Senegal game. People want to watch the match,” he said.
Skogen noted long queues formed before Iraq’s match last week. “At 19:00, there were two blocks of people waiting to get in. We’ll see what it’s like at 21:00.” He added: “It’s calm before the storm. It was buzzing here before the first Norway game.”
With space for 1,700 people, Skogen advised latecomers to arrive immediately: “It’s getting full now. I’d be surprised if it’s not packed within an hour.”
A group of friends—Pernille Norum, Mira Janagan, Maja Navestad, and Tuva Røysland, all 21—secured a table at 16:00. Dressed in Argentina shirts for the earlier match against Austria, they reported receiving playful criticism. “We’ve gotten some hate and comments about wearing the wrong jersey,” Røysland laughed. They plan to stay for Norway’s game, possibly switching to national colors.
Alexander Smith (26) and his friends arrived just before 19:00, intending to stay all night despite an early work start. “The atmosphere is amazing! It feels like Norway could win the World Cup today,” Smith said. His employer allowed a late arrival the next morning.
