Four men sentenced for attempted robbery and shooting of coin collector

A court in Næstved has sentenced four men to between six and nine years in prison for a failed home robbery targeting a 77-year-old coin collector in Næsby Strand, West Zealand.

The incident occurred in the early hours of 26 November 2024, when the men arrived at the victim’s home and fired two shots from a loaded shotgun through a locked door. The 77-year-old was struck by multiple pellets in the abdomen and returned fire, hitting one of the assailants.

David Ebbesen Knutson, 30, and Benjamin Ravn, 32, each received nine-year sentences, while Daniel Pihlmann Offersen, 31, was given seven years. Kim Vindahl Nielsen, 47, was acquitted of attempted murder but convicted of aggravated assault, receiving a six-year term.

According to Ekstra Bladet, three of the convicted men have appealed the ruling to the high court, while Offersen has requested time to consider an appeal.
