Man seriously injured in Savonlinna balcony fall, police suspect foul play

A man under 40 was seriously injured after falling from a first-floor balcony in Savonlinna on Sunday, with police launching a preliminary investigation due to conflicting accounts of the incident.
Emergency services transported the injured man to hospital. Another man under 40 was present in the apartment at the time, according to police.
Authorities received a report around 13:00 on 15 June that a man had fallen from a height of approximately five metres. The current charges under investigation are aggravated assault and aggravated bodily harm, though these may change as the probe continues.
No arrest has been made, and the suspect has provided a statement. Police have not yet determined when the injured man can be interviewed.
